Dear NCACE Members:

 

Welcome to NCACE!

Over the years, I have traveled around the US recruiting college talent for positions here in North Carolina and elsewhere.  Throughout my travels, I’ve had conversations with a number of College and Employer representatives about the value of state associations like NCACE.  I’ve heard a lot of comments like these:

“Our organization is small, and isn’t very useful.  We only join to be good stewards.”

“Our organization is big, but it’s impersonal.  We only join because we feel like we’re supposed to.”

“What organization?”

We in North Carolina are lucky, because we truly have an association that gives real value to our members in ways like:

• Professional development: annual conference, workshops, LinkedIn group, and HRCI and Continuing Education credits
• An active listserv, which serves as a forum to post job openings, ask questions, and share creative ideas
• Networking and social events to get to know others in our profession across NC
• Access to talented students from a variety of academic backgrounds at colleges and universities around the state
• Opportunities to discuss challenges, new opportunities, ethical issues and other hot topics with colleagues

On a personal note, I believe the very BEST part of our organization is our people!  Like many other members, I have developed friendships through NCACE that carry over from my professional life into my personal life.  That, to me, is the best return on my investment.

 

If you are a veteran member: welcome back!  If you are a new member, I strongly encourage you to get involved with the organization.  Network with us at our social and professional events.  Join us at the conference.  Submit news to our quarterly newsletter.  Volunteer for a leadership or committee position.

 

And if you are just considering whether to join, please reach out to me!  I would love to talk to you about our association and how it can benefit you, your company, your recruiting targets, your school or your students.  Ask any NCACE member: this will be one of the best investments you make this year.
