Department:

Student Professional Development Center

Website: www.elon.edu/careers

Responsibilities:

Elon’s Student Professional Development Center, housing the offices of Career Services and Corporate/Employer Relations, seeks a dynamic professional to deliver strategic, high quality career advising, programing, and events for the nearly 1,600 undergraduate majors in the Love School of Business. This individual must possess a good understanding of the internship and job search process, particularly in career fields business majors typically aspire to work in (finance, marketing, consulting, accounting, management, etc.). The position will also provide career programming options for Elon’s nationally ranked (part-time) MBA program. The ability to develop new and foster current relationships among LSB faculty/administration and other key stakeholders is essential. This individual will also eventually teach one of Elon’s innovative Transition Strategy courses (one-credit weekly courses preparing students for their professional life after college). The position is located in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business and reports directly to the executive director of career services.

Elon is a private university of approximately 5,600 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduate and professional students, located in the heart of NC; 45-55 minutes from Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, 25 minutes from Greensboro, and 2 hours from Charlotte. Elon University’s campus is a botanical garden and is routinely counted among the “Most Beautiful College Campuses.” Newsweek-Kaplan recently named Elon the nation’s leading college for engaged learning and US News & World Report ranks Elon among the most “Focused on their Undergrads.” Elon has consistently been recognized by the Chronicle’s “Great Colleges to Work For” survey.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree is required but a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Additionally, pervious experience in the corporate sector is strongly preferred (corporate recruiting, human resources, finance, marketing, etc.). A successful background working in a school of business career office in lieu of direct corporate working experience is acceptable. The successful applicant must possess and evidence outstanding communication skills (interpersonal, written, and oral), the ability to effectively multi-task, strong attention to detail, prior program/event development and implementation, and possess a strong customer service orientation.
