Job Description

The Associate Director of Graduate Student Services will work in a collaborative setting to provide pre-admission counseling and post-admission advising for prospective students in graduate programs in the Belk College of Business, with a primary focus on the Master of Accountancy (MACC) program (position #1544) or the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program (position #1545).  Accredited by AACSB International, the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte has approximately 600 graduate students, including approximately 300 students in the MBA and 100 students in the MACC program.  These programs serve a combination of working professionals and full-time students, with classes meeting both during the day and in the evening at the Center City campus.  The Associate Director of Graduate Student Services will be an integral component of the Graduate Programs team, which supports graduate students from pre-admission through post-graduation.

Working in a high energy environment, the Associate Director of Graduate Student Services will have the following primary responsibilities.
  1. The Associate Director of Graduate Student Services will cultivate employer and alumni relationships for the purposes of providing connections from the business community to the Belk College of Business for individuals interested in learning about opportunities for graduate study and in selecting a graduate program best aligned with career goals.
  2. In the context of relationship building, the Associate Director of Graduate Student Services will work with employers and alumni to build job and internship opportunities for current students and alumni.
  3. The Associate Director of Graduate Student Services will help develop and support strategies for the recruitment and retention of graduate students in the Belk College, including, but not limited to, strategies around engaging with Belk College undergraduates.
  4. The Associate Director of Graduate Student Services will be responsible for assisting in the development of and reporting on metrics that measure success in the areas of prospective student recruitment and student retention.
  5. The Associate Director of Graduate Student Services will support other strategic initiatives as necessary in support of all graduate programs.
The Associate Director of Graduate Student Services will report to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs in the Belk College of Business and will work closely with staff from Graduate Programs, faculty Program Directors, other members of the Belk College and University community, employers, and alumni.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in a Business discipline from an AACSB accredited school, in Counseling, in Higher Education or in a related field is required.  Two or more years of experience in high-volume, business-community outreach and advising of prospective graduate business students preferred.

  6. and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and web technology.
