The NCACE organization began in 1969 as the North Carolina Placement Association, in which it’s purpose is to bring together all facets of the business, industrial, governmental and post-secondary level educational institutions within North Carolina which are involved in placement, employment and utilization of personnel. From the organization’s inception, the NCPA has involved a collaboration of employers and educational institutions. With an original membership of 104 members, the organization has grown to over 200 members.
The basic constitution and by-laws were written in February of 1970, setting forth the organization as an educational and charitable group with a goal to promote and develop cooperation between members, develop a high degree of professionalism in the field, to promote research and the exchange of information needed to develop practices and procedures used in the field.
As the NCACE organization grew and the career field evolved, the organization voted to adopt a new name of North Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers in the Spring of 1997. That year, the NCACE and VACE organizations collaborated to host a dual-state partnership. This collaborative effort continued in 2000 with a conference held collaboratively between the NCACE and SCACE organizations.
Today, our organization thrives with an annual conference, numerous engagement opportunities throughout the year, as well as a robust membership and engagement membership base. As we approach the upcoming NCACE era, we encourage you to consider joining or get involved with the organization. As was established in the organization’s inception, NCACE is here to serve the career development community across our state.
